On A Magazine Rack Near You

The December 2011 issue of Oxygen Women’s Fitness Magazine.  Grab a copy, crack it open to page 57 to see …(wait for it)…my mug and an FSL dinner recipe!  WOOT WOOT! Yes, that’s the same shot from my bathroom photo shoot that you saw here.

Clearly you can see how thrilled and excited Rocco is about all of this!

A huge thanks to Oxygen Magazine for helping me cross #90 off of my bucket list!

*** If you want to pick up the December
issue and live in the southern Connecticut area, my apologies. My mom bought every single copy within driving distance.***

Wedding Week Part 3

The big day!  I’ve shared posts & photos about our wedding day (here) and I’ve even posted about our fake wedding photos (here, lol!). But I’m going to dish the details in this one…

Here’s a timeline of the day…

I woke up, ate a light breakfast, the hit the gym for a shoulder workout (hello strapless!) the hopped into the shower.

My dress was really wrinkled and I dropped it off at the cleaners the day before to be pressed.  When I got back from the gym, the wrinkles never came out, so I did what any desperate bride-to-be would do.  I did something pretty ballsy.  I ironed my dress (inside out just in case) and it didn’t really work.  I took a deep breath and told myself “It is not the end of the world.  Relax.  One small thing will not ruin the day. DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!

I grabbed my veil and jumped into my car and got my hair did 😉

I drove home and did my makeup myself.  My trial didn’t go so well, I looked more like this:

.Mmmm, yeah.  Not so bride-y.

So I stuck with what makeup I’d normally  wear, except I added false eyelashes to kick it up a notch and added a bit more bronzer because I tend to look washed out in photos.

I had my best girls to help me get into my dress!  It took a long time to get the corset just right!

I love the back of this dress!

And they helped me put my garters &  shoes on too…

Rocco had his own mini photo shoot! He was unbelievable that day.  He was following me around (like hopping at me) all day while I got ready!  I swear he didn’t take his eyes off of me.

We all got onto the party bus to the church!

My dad helped me off, and we headed in for the ceremony…

Then the ceremony took place.  A funny thing happened at the altar after we put the rings on each other.

The priest didn’t say “You may kiss the bride”.  He just kept on with the ceremony.  Of course Dum Dum (me) had to open her trap!  I loud whispered “Father!” and motioned for him to come over. I asked him ” When do we kiss?! You didn’t say kiss the bride”. He started laughing and said “Listen.  I’ve been doing this for 40 years, just trust me on this one” and he laughed his way back to the throne-like chair. Mr. FSL couldn’t believe I did that!

And my maid & matron of honor couldn’t either!

The big smooch!

We snapped some shots after the ceremony with our massive bridal party.

Since this post is already the longest, I’ll post the 2nd half of the day tomorrow!

Barely Walking Today

Ok. It’s no secret that Jamie Eason has the body I wish I had. She’s muscular but looks feminine.

When I get bored with my exercise routines, I google, I YouTube, I check out magazines, and forums in search of new workouts.

Well, it was glute day a couple of days ago. I googled Jamie’s glute workout. I found this.

“Hellified walking lunges” Wow. If you’ve never done these, do them. Your butt will thank you (after it cries of course).

Workout Music Website!!!

The awesome Jamie Eason hitting the gym

Jonathan at GymDJ.com commented on my last post about what’s playing on my ipod. I checked out his site and felt like I’d be doing everyone a favor by spreading the word.

GymDJ.com is my latest and greatest discovery.

Here’s a cut & paste job from his “About page”

GymDJ is a website / blog that features music to workout with. Music will be posted about three times (or more) a week and based on that song’s beats per minute (BPM) I will add the song to its appropriate workout category. The BPM chart I use is listed below:
•Warm up / Cool down : 90 – 100 bpm
•Running : 120 – 160 bpm
•Boxing : 122 – 140 bpm
•Cycling : 130 – 170 bpm
•Lifting : 140 – 170 bpm

There’s even a section where you can preview music before you go and blow your allowance on itunes 😉

Definately check out the archives of previously posted music too.

If you suffer from ipod boredom, trust me, it’s worth the click.

Skipping two to keep going

In order to keep going with the blog challenge because I am stubborn don’t like to give up on things, I am skipping question 9 because it’s pretty much the same as question 2 (which I answered here). I am also skipping question 10 because I don’t smooch & tell.

On to the next one.

Question 11: Put your ipod on shuffle and write 10 songs that pop up.

Brace yourself. This is going to be random. I use my ipod for the gym only, so these are my workout tunes.

Okay, here we go.

Song #1…..Flava In Your Ear Remix by Notorious BIG, Craig Mack, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes(this happens to be my husband's favorite)

Song #2…..Too Late by Evermore. It's one of my all time favorite dance songs (from my good ol "going to the club every weekend" days

Song #3…..I won’t be Ignored by Linkin Park. A great cardio interval song!

Song #4…..Decode by Paramore. I love everything this band puts out.

Song #5……Welcome to Jamrock by Damien Marley. Bass heavy, reggae by one of the best.

Song #6….. Life is Beautiful by Sixx AM. This song gets me pumped.

Song #7 …..I get money by Drake. This song samples the melody from Suzanne Vega’s Tom’s Diner. DaDaDuhDa DaDaDuhDa

Song #8…..World Hold On by Bob Sinclair. Great dance beat, great message. Loves it!

Song #9…..Digital Girl Remix by Jamie Foxx featuring Drake, Kanye West & The-Dream. I love this beat, plus Drake and Kanye can do no wrong (musically of course).

Song #10…..Unstoppable by Drake featuring Lil Wayne and Santogold. Not mainstream music, but this one is a great cardio interval song also.

Booty Boost

Richard Simmons

Ski season is just around the corner, and if I want to get better, I need more muscle in my lower half. I have a pancake butt, so for the past few months I’ve been doing glute intensive workouts twice a week to give it a boost and hopefully have some more power in the snow.   This is what today’s workout looked like:

smith machine lunges 3 sets, 8 reps, 75-90lbs

leg press (feet high & wide on the plate) 3 sets, 10reps, 250lbs

sumo squats 3 sets, 10 reps, 45lbs

back hyperextensions 3 sets, 10 reps, bodyweight

cable kickbacks 3 sets, 10 reps, 25lbs each leg

When my legs feel like Jell-o at the end of a workout I know I pushed myself pretty hard.  Nothin like breakin a sweat!

A healthy start

Before my trip to the pliers dentist, I did squeeze in a quick shoulder workout. Had to bring up my endorphine level (maybe it would make it less scary).  Here’s what it looked like:

Overhead dumb bell press 3 sets, 10 reps, 30 lbs

Side raises drop sets, 3 sets, as many as I could (without losing form), 20, 15, 10lb in each hand

Overhead barbell press 3 sets, 10 reps, 20lbs

Front cable raises 3 sets, 10 reps, 25lbs

Reverse Flyes 3 sets, 10 reps, 40lbs

No time for cardio.
